A backlight assembly, a display device having the same and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to connect a printed circuit board and a converter directly through a connector without a connection line, thereby simplifying an assembling process and outer appearance. A first connector(215) is electrically and directly connected to a lower surface of a base substrate. Plural point light sources(220) are mounted in an upper surface of the base substrate. A receiving vessel(230) is in a lower part of the base substrate, and includes a side part and a bottom part having an opening(235) to which the first connector is inserted. The receiving vessel receives the base substrate where the point light sources are mounted. A converter(240) is in a lower part of the receiving vessel. A second connector(245) detachably coupled with the first connector is electrically and directly connected to an upper surface of a converter.
