<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that melts and fixes a toner image on paper by heating the toner image on the surface of the paper by the use of a fixing means that has a heat roller and pressure roller, wherein the paper is prevented from being wrapped around the heat roller when an image is formed on paper with another image formed on its back. <P>SOLUTION: A first sensor S<SB>1</SB>is disposed on downstream side of a paper feed roller 2 in the direction of paper conveyance.
