<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer conveying device that conveys charged developer by a traveling wave electric field, and to provide an image forming apparatus provided with the developer conveying device, wherein the developer is successfully uniformed in width direction without causing the traveling wave electric field to mechanically hinder developer conveyance. <P>SOLUTION: On one linear electrode 22 disposed downstream of the place where it faces a photoreceptor drum, a plurality of needle-like electrodes 23, as an example of a smoothing electrode, are disposed on the surface of the linear electrode 22 at regular intervals in width direction so as to be perpendicular to this surface. The electrodes 23 are disposed on the linear electrode 22 so that the upper end of each of the electrodes 23 is connected to an electric wire 51 extended parallel to the linear electrode 22. A positive voltage with a constant value is applied to each electrode 12 by a DC power source 52. Consequently, potential becomes high in the vicinity of each electrode 23, and positively charged toner is conveyed avoiding the electrode 23.
