The proximity switch has a transmission coil, which generates an electromagnetic alternating field as part of an oscillator (s), which is influenced in different ways by an actuator depending on its distance to the proximity switch. A receiving coil circuit comprises of two receiving coils (E1,E2) with two coil winding directions, which are opposite to each other. The adjustment device has a resistance (W1,W2), arranged in the receiving coil circuit, which trims the voltage recovered from the adjustment signal.
