The booster has an electro motor (30) with a stator (34) and a rotor (38). An evaluation and control unit (70) determines an effective current flow into the motor and an effective pressure in a main brake cylinder (10). The unit (70) computes applied torque from the current flow and additional braking force that is applied by the motor. The unit (70) computes an effective working common braking force from the effective pressure. The unit (70) computes an effective working pedal force from a difference between the common braking force and the additional braking force.
