A master cylinder for a brake system is provided to drain oil smoothly by causing oil in liquid pressure chambers to be drained to oil drain holes through guide grooves. A master cylinder for a brake system comprises a cylinder main body(20), pistons(23,24), sealing members(25,26), oil drain holes(33,34), and drain guide grooves(61,62). The cylinder main body has a bore(21) therein. The pistons reciprocate in each bore to press liquid pressure chambers(31,32). The sealing member is disposed between the piston and an inner surface of the bore. The oil drain holes are formed at the cylinder main body and communicated with the liquid pressure chambers to drain oil in the liquid pressure chambers. Each drain guide groove is formed on an inner surface of the bore at the oil drain hole side to guide the oil in the liquid pressure chamber to the oil drain hole. |
