A novel gene is provided to show no homology to conventionally reported carcinogenic/metastatic genes and be used for diagnosing and treating gastric cancer or liver cancer, preparing a transgenic cell line and an animal, gene therapy using an anti-sense or an siRNA(small interfering RNA), and developing an anticancer agent specific to the gastric cancer or the liver cancer. A cancer diagnostic kit comprises an antibody specifically coupled to a TIP41 protein. Further, the cancer diagnostic kit is a kit for ELISA(enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). A method for detecting a cancer marker comprises a step of contacting the antibody specifically coupled to the TIP41 protein with a biological sample selected from the group consisting of gastric tissue, gastric cell, urine, blood, serum and plasma. A transgenic animal cell line is transformed by a vector including a TIP41 carcinogenic gene of SEQ ID : NO. 1 or a fragment thereof. A method for screening an inhibitor of gastric cancer comprises the steps of: (a) coupling a test compound to the TIP41 protein; and (b) identifying whether the test compound promotes or inhibits the action of the TIP41 protein. A target gene TIP41 for treating cancer or inhibiting metastasis comprises a sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 1.
