<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering characteristics of a fuel cell, wherein the characteristics of the fuel cell can be recovered in more simplified system configuration. <P>SOLUTION: After stoppage of a fuel cell, high-humidity gas or water is supplied to at least either one of an oxidant electrode or a fuel electrode.
