<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-sensitive recording material whose undercoat layer shows high stability in a coating liquid for forming an undercoat layer, with such advantages that the elution of the undercoat layer component in water does not occur even when the undercoat layer containing a hollow particle is immersed in water, the undercoat layer does not peel even in a case that a mechanical force is applied and the high sensitivity to low energy can be kept. <P>SOLUTION: This heat-sensitive recording material 1 has the undercoat layer and a heat-sensitive color developing layer arranged on a support. (1) The undercoat layer contains a hollow particle, a diacetone modified polyvinyl alcohol resin and a hydrazide compound.
