PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method where an aluminum sheet is securely, easily and safely cleaned without etching the surface of the aluminum sheet. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a method for cleaning an aluminum sheet or an aluminum alloy sheet comprising a stage where the surface of an aluminum sheet or an aluminum alloy sheet is subjected to cleaning treatment with an aqueous solution. The aqueous solution comprises oolong tea extract of 0.02 to 10 wt.% and an green tea extract of 0.002 to 10 wt.%, and the weight ratio between the content of the oolong tea extract of x and the content of the green tea extract y, x/y lies in the range of 0.08 to 25, and, the method includes a stage where, after the cleaning treatment with the above aqueous solution, rinsing is performed with water having an electric conductivity of≤200μS/cm and whose temperature is≤80°C.
