PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenated polymerized rosin ester which has a good color tone and good stability even in the case of the storage under heating (good heating stability). SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the hydrogenated polymerized rosin ester with a sulfur content of 100 ppm or less comprises the hydrogenation of a polymerized rosin (A1) with a sulfur content of 100 ppm or less provided by desulfurization treatment of a polymerized rosin (A) provided by using a sulfuric acid catalyst, followed by reaction with alcohols (B). The method of manufacturing the hydrogenated polymerized rosin ester with a sulfur content of 100 ppm or less comprises hydrogenation of the polymerized rosin (A) provided by using the sulfuric acid catalyst, followed by reaction between polymerized rosin (A2) with a sulfur content of 100 ppm or less, provided by desulfurization treatment, and the alcohols (B).
