PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely and surely detect ink in any condition such as liquid type ink, solid deposited ink, and the like and to effectively use the ink until the end of its life. SOLUTION: This waste liquid container 40 is equipped with an opening section 102 for receiving waste ink. In a space in a container body 101, a space at a lower side of the waste liquid inlet 102 serves as a space where the waste liquid ink is solidified to be deposited and the other space serves as a space in which the waste liquid ink is stored as it is. A first sensor 111a of an electrostatic capacity type is disposed corresponding to the space where the waste ink is solidified to be deposited, and a second sensor 112a in an electrostatic capacity type is disposed corresponding to the space where the waste ink is stored as it is.
