PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane filtering system capable of effectively performing filtering and washing while reducing the total running cost. SOLUTION: The membrane filter system 100 is equipped with a membrane module 13 using a membrane having a pore size adjusting material, which is prepared by adding a polymeric material reversibly expanded/contracted in response to a physical or chemical environmental change to the outer surface side of a membrane substrate to subject supplied raw water to membrane filtering to discharge treated water. The pore size adjusting material is reversibly expanded/contracted by changing at least either one of the temperature or pH of the fluid around the pore size adjusting material to discharge not only the fluid around the pore size adjusting material but also the adherend to the membrane substrate and the pore size adjusting material.
