PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator capable of quickly opening a lift door in a safe state when a lock device disposed on a door device of a lift fails. SOLUTION: The lock device 53 disposed on the lift 5 of the elevator is provided with a locking piece, a lever, an energizing member, an actuator, a release detection sensor 535 and a switch 536. The locking piece is attached to the lift door 51. The lever is engaged with the locking piece, and restricts the movement of the closed lift door 51 to the open direction. The energizing member energizes the lever to the engagement position. The actuator moves the lever to the release position by the electric power of an ordinary power source 12 when the lift 5 arrives at a floor. The release detection sensor 535 detects the lever in the release position.
