PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solution recovery device and a solution recovery method for an absorption chiller and heater that can discharge or inject a lithium bromide solution from or into the absorption chiller and heater without requiring an operator's monitoring. SOLUTION: The solution recovery device for the absorption chiller and heater comprises a solution recovery tank 110 expandable or contractible in a vertical direction; a discharge-injection on-off valve 200a-200d for recovering and injecting the lithium bromide solution; a hose 100 for connecting the discharge-injection on-off valves 200a-200d to the solution recovery tank 110; guide posts 130, 131 and guides 132a-132j for guiding the solution recovery tank 110; a first detecting part 140 and a second detecting part 141 detecting the predetermined height position of the solution recovery tank 110; weights 123, 124 pushing the lithium bromide solution out of the solution recovery tank 110; and an interlocked on-off valve 120 opened/closed interlocked with detection signals from the first and second detecting parts 140, 141.
