An apparatus and a method for keeping up braking power are provided to provide secure braking power by calculating location of a vehicle in connection with a GPS receiver and detecting whether a vehicle moves from the calculated location or not. An apparatus for keeping up braking power comprises a location detecting unit(10), solenoid valves(23), and a control unit(40). The location detecting unit monitors location information and travel of a vehicle. The solenoid valve is installed at a brake oil path for supplying oil to each wheel to open and shut off the brake oil path. When a brake pedal is stepped down, the control unit calculates traveling distance of the vehicle for a predetermined time on the basis of a signal output by the location detecting unit. When the traveling distance is zero, the control unit shuts off the solenoid valve. The location detecting unit is a GPS receiver, a gyroscope, or an accelerometer. |
