<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt retractor having a comparatively simple structure capable of preventing the occurrence of noise from a cover member accompanying vibration of a pendulum. <P>SOLUTION: In the seat belt retractor equipped with a response operation means loaded in a vehicle for operating in response to generation of speed reduction of the vehicle, the pendulum of the response operation means that changes its attitude in response to the generation of speed reduction is provided in the proximity of the resin cover member that forms at least one portion of a housing of a retractor body.
