PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality of an image signal after subjected to interpolation, when superimposing a predetermined image signal on the image signal, before being subjected to interpolation. SOLUTION: A microprocessing unit (MPU) 31 accepts a command, to start or end superimposing of a predetermined image signal on an input image signal. When the superimposition start or end command is accepted, an interpolation processing section 72 detects the motion vector of the input image signal, on which superimposing of the predetermined image signal is started or ended, and interpolates and outputs an interpolation signal, on the basis of the motion vector without having to depend on the reliability of the motion vector as a whole.
