PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the breaking strength of a dielectric porcelain composition containing Mg<SB>2</SB>SiO<SB>4</SB>(forsterite) as a major component. SOLUTION: The dielectric porcelain composition comprises Mg<SB>2</SB>SiO<SB>4</SB>as a major component and ZnO, B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, CuO and RO (R represents an alkaline earth metal) as minor components. When the mass of Mg<SB>2</SB>SiO<SB>4</SB>is defined as a, the mass of ZnO as b, the mass of B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>as c, the mass of CuO as d, and the mass of RO as e, b/(a+b+c+d+e), that is, the ratio of the mass b of ZnO to the whole mass (a+b+c+d+e) is 8-20%, c/(a+b+c+d+e), that is, the ratio of the mass c of B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>is 3-10%; d/(a+b+c+d+e), that is, the ratio of the mass d of CuO is 2-8%; and e/(a+b+c+d+e), that is, the ratio of the mass e of RO is 1-4%.
