This invention relates to a method (200, 250) of communicating information from an electronic tag (102), an electronic tag (102), a reader (1 10) and a system (100) for communicating information from an electronic tag (102). One aspect of the invention discloses a method (200) of transmitting information from an electronic tag (102), the method (200) including scrambling (210) an ID code (106.1 ) associated with the electronic tag (102) using a variable parameter. The method (200) further includes transmitting (214) the scrambled ID code, together with an indication of an actual parameter used in the scrambling, to a reader (1 10) such that at least some transmissions of scrambled codes differ from each other.
