<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a density detecting device capable of always accurately calibrating a density detecting sensor and an image forming apparatus capable of forming a good-quality color image. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus including the density detecting device, the density detecting device includes: a first light emitting part for irradiating an image carrier on which an image is formed with light in order to detect regularly reflected light; a second light emitting part for irradiating the image carrier on which the image is formed with light in order to detect diffused and reflected light; a light receiving part for receiving the regularly reflected light from the image carrier that is irradiation light from the first light emitting part and the diffused and reflected light from the image that is irradiation light from the second light emitting part and detecting the quantity of regularly reflected light and the quantity of diffused and reflected light; a first density detection part for detecting density of the image as a first density value on the basis of the detected quantity of regularly reflected light; a second density detection part for detecting density of the image as a second density value on the basis of the detected quantity of diffused and reflected light; and a control part for controlling output of the second light emitting part so as to make the first density value agree with the second density value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
