<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device capable of improving restraining performance of occupants through an airbag even when the occupants have different physiques. <P>SOLUTION: This side airbag device 120 inflates/deploys a main bag 122 and a sub bag 132 between the occupants PL, PS seated in a seat 10 in a vehicle cabin, and a side wall part 14 in the vehicle cabin at a collision of the vehicle. Here, in the case of the occupant PL having a predetermined physique or larger, only the main bag 122 is inflated/deployed, and in the case of the occupant PS being smaller than the predetermined physique, the main bag 122 and the sub bag 132 are both inflated/deployed. Thereby, in the case of the occupant PS smaller than the predetermined physique, compared to the case of the occupant PL having the predetermined physique or larger, the thickness of an upper side inflation part 142 in the vehicle width direction is larger during inflation/deployment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
