<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for removing organic matter in water which can be suitably used to recover and recycle organic matter-containing water, such as rinse wastewater discharged from electronic device manufacturing processes. <P>SOLUTION: A sulfur compound containing a peroxide group, and, if necessary, a pH adjusting agent are added to organic matter-containing wastewater, and then the wastewater is subjected to ultraviolet oxidation treatment. The ultraviolet-oxidized water is subjected to pH adjustment, if necessary, and then a remaining oxidizing agent is removed. The water subjected to the oxidizing agent-removing treatment is subjected to deionization treatment. Sulfate radicals having a very strong oxidizing power are generated by the ultraviolet oxidation treatment after the addition of the sulfur compound containing a peroxide group to the raw water. An organic matter present in the raw water is transformed into an ionic organic matter by the sulfate radicals, and the ionic organic matter is removed by the deionization treatment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
