<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device excellent in durability and capable of trapping even extremely small particulate matter. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device is provided with: a filter member 20 having a plurality of exhaust emission passages 23, and also a plurality of fine pores 21 for trapping the particulate matter, formed in a bulkhead 22 forming the exhaust emission gas passages 23; a discharging member 30 which is arranged upstream of the filter member 20 and negatively charging the particulate matter by electrical discharge; and an electric field generating member 40 which is arranged between the filter member 20 and the discharging member 30 to generate an electric field therebetween to thereby apply electrostatic force to the charged particulate matter and attracts the particulate matter to the peripheral side of the filter member 20 according to the size thereof by the electrostatic force. The diameter of each of the fine pores 21 formed in the peripheral side of the filter member 20 is formed smaller than the diameter of each of the fine pores 21 formed in the substantially center part of the filter member 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
