PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the height of a medium stored in each stacker and to shorten the time for measuring the height in a medium processing apparatus in which a medium conveying arm moves up and down or turns to convey a medium to a plurality of fixed stackers. SOLUTION: The medium processing apparatus is provided with: a medium conveying mechanism 6 for at least turns or moves up and down while holding the medium, conveying the medium while moving among the plurality of stackers 11 and 12, a medium drive 4 and a label printer 5, and releasing the medium at a target point; an ultrasonic wave transmitting/receiving device 73 for transmitting an ultrasonic wave to the medium stored in the plurality of stackers and receiving reflected wave of the ultrasonic wave with which the medium is irradiated; and a height measuring control section 133 for calculating the height of the medium based on the time from the transmission of the ultrasonic wave to the reception of the reflected wave.
