PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of improving the convenience of performing information addition or elimination to or from original image information in the case of performing proofreading of the original image information on a paper original or inputting correction information. SOLUTION: In the case of performing proofreading of the original image information on the paper original or inputting the correction information, an instruction area instructed by the correction information is judged on the basis of ambiguous correction information acquired by a correction information acquiring means 24 and the position of the correction information on the original image information, an image formation block to be a processing target is selected on the basis of the instruction area, a processing instruction selecting means 26 selects processing instructions ("elimination", "highlighting", "magnification", etc.,) in accordance with respective contents with one or a plurality of selected image formation blocks (character, morpheme, sentence, paragraph, graphic, picture, etc.,) to be a processing target, and a relative position between the image formation blocks and the correction information, and an image processing means 27 processes source original image information according to the selected processing instruction.
