Method for minimizing spoilt prints after break in offset printing process by constant monitoring of the consistency of the emulsion in the color train

A method for rapid determination of the water and ink proportions in the color train of an offset printing press has a test roller (13) in contact with an application roller (10) in the color train, to measure the drag between the test roller and the application roller. This provides a constant measure of the ratio of water and color and ensures that the correct ratio is rapidly applied to the printing process after starting and after a break. The measuring roller is fitted with a controlled brake and generates electric signals proportional to the drag effect.
