Preparation of 3(4),7(8)-dihydroxymethylbicyclo(4.3.0)nonane comprises: hydroformylation of bicyclo(4,3,0)-nona-3,7-diene comprising reacting bicyclo(4.3.0)-nona-3,7-diene in a homogeneous organic phase with synthetic gas in the presence of an organophosphorus compound in complex bonding with a transition metal compound of group VIII at 70-160[deg]C and 5-35 MPa to obtain 3(4),7(8)-bisformyl bicyclo(4.3.0)nonane; followed by hydrogenation. |
