<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the total energy consumption of the image forming apparatus as a whole by rationally allotting the energy consumption and control function of the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus having a secondary battery 108 includes a main PSU 105 that supplies power to the body of the image forming apparatus and other main circuits; a second power source selector 109 that supplies power from the secondary battery 108 to specified circuits, other than the main circuits; a charging-only PSU 106 for charging the secondary battery 108; and a thermoelectric module 110, disposed in the body of the image forming apparatus. When the module 110 is driven, the secondary battery 108 is charged at all times, and the charge-only PSU 106 is stopped. When the thermoelectric module 110 is stopped, the charge-only PSU 106, having high conversion efficiency, charges the secondary battery 108. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
