<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for highly correctly extracting information embedded in an image signal etc., and provide an apparatus and method of embedding information to enable such highly correct information extraction. <P>SOLUTION: The information extracting apparatus extracts information from an information-embedded container signal such as an image signal having information embedded per predetermined length segment. First, the apparatus measures mutual correlation as similarity between a local waveform and an embedded waveform of the information-embedded container signal (similarity measuring block 200). The apparatus estimates an embedded phase range of the information in a segment from the distribution of absolute values of mutual correlation in the segment (phase synchronizing block 201). For each segment, the apparatus extracts embedded information from decision based on comparison between the maximum or minimum value in mutual correlation in the estimated phase range and a predetermined value (information extracting block 202). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
