<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mount light-emitting diode having improved heat radiation properties, reliability, and productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The surface mount light-emitting diode 10 has: an insulating base member 2; a semiconductor light-emitting element 1 having a backside fixedly bonded on the base member 2; and a metallic reflector 5 bonded on the base member 2 with a heat conduction type adhesive sheet 4 interposed therebetween, to surround the semiconductor light-emitting element 1. Heat generated from the semiconductor light-emitting element 1 is transferred to the reflector 5 via the base member 2 and the heat conduction type adhesive sheet 4, and then is radiated to the outside from the reflector 5. The metallic reflector 5 can efficiently radiate the heat generated from the semiconductor light-emitting element 1 to the outside. A cutting margin provided for the reflector 5 facilitates a dicing process in dicing along the cutting margin, which improves productivity without reducing yields. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
