PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable storage device particularly suitable for the purpose of printing and/or displaying a digital data file, and easy in handling even by an inexperienced user.

SOLUTION: The computer-connectable portable memory devices 12 and 14 are particularly used for storing the digital data file for the purpose of transferring the file to the other apparatus and/or for the purpose of displaying the file. The devices 12 and 14 have program codes 38 and 44 permanently staying in the devices and identifying the devices by themselves when connected to an all-purpose computer 10.
