PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a profile of a display device that performs superior color matching. SOLUTION: A profile creating apparatus comprises a colorimeter for performing colorimetry of a screen of a display device; an evaluation image storage means, prestored with an image for evaluation defined by a control value of the display device; a profile storage means for storing a profile; a measurement data storing means for storing the measurement data of the colorimeter; a means which reads the image for evaluation and displays the read image on the display device; a means which inputs the colorimetric value of the screen of the display device measured by the colorimeter and stores the input colorimetric value into the measurement data storage means, in a state where the image for evaluation is displayed on the display device; a means which calculates the coefficient of a color reproduction model from the colorimetric value stored in the measurement data storage means; a means for calculating the error between the colorimetric value and a predictive value, obtained by the color reproduction model; a means for calculating an approximate curve for approximating the error; and a means which creates the profile defining a relationship between the device control value of the display device and the colorimetric value, on the basis of the approximate curve.
