PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the deterioration in recording quality caused by a deviation of recording position due to the deformation of a platen, in an inkjet recorder. SOLUTION: A paper-to-paper detection unit 124 provided to a carriage is used to scan a platen. In this scanning, the paper-to-paper distance is measured with regard to each rib arranged in the scanning direction. The measurement of ribs is performed by dividing the measurement region into two, an upstream region and a downstream region so as to measure in the transfer direction of a recording medium. When the sub-scanning direction of the platen is deformed, the paper-to-paper distance differs according to nozzle position, so that the paper-to-paper distance is measured by dividing the same rib into two regions to store the measured results in each region. Then, recording position control for varying the ejection timing is performed corresponding to the paper-to-paper distance for each region of the rib. Thereby, even if there is a variation in the height of the rib caused by the deformation of the platen, the ejection timing is decided corresponding to the varied height, enabling the deviation of the ink hitting position to be suppressed.
