Provided is a sheet conveying apparatus including: a first sheet conveying rotary member; a second sheet conveying rotary member provided upstream of the first sheet conveying rotary member; and a third sheet conveying rotary member provided upstream of the second sheet conveying rotary member, in which: the first sheet conveying rotary member, the second sheet conveying rotary member, and the third sheet conveying rotary member can convey the same sheet at the same time; a relationship between a peripheral speed V 1 of the first sheet conveying rotary member, a peripheral speed V 2 of the second sheet conveying rotary member, and a peripheral speed V 3 of the third sheet conveying rotary member is V 3 >V 1 >V 2; and a velocity of a sheet at a portion where the sheet is ejected from the second sheet conveying rotary member is equal to or lower than the peripheral speed of the first sheet conveying rotary member.
