PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for perforating a glass plate which is effective for perforating a circular hole in glass such as a glass plate for a liquid crystal, a glass plate for plasma television, window glass for a car and the like. SOLUTION: In the method of perforation, a drill is rapidly travelled from a waiting position to an approaching point to the glass plate, travelling velocity is reduced once at the approaching point to the glass plate, the velocity from the approaching point to around contacting point or a contacting point on the glass plate is further reduced gradually to be close to around zero and the drill is passed through the contacting point and passed between the contacting point and the surface layer of the glass plate while increasing the velocity from around zero.
