PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce rattling noises occurring in reduction gears of an electric power steering device. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device equipped with a brushless motor 1 and the reduction gears 2 is provided with an inertial plate 8 as a spindle which can be mounted on a rotary shaft of the brushless motor 1, and a clutch 7 for switching between mounting and not mounting the inertial plate 8 on the rotary shaft of the brushless motor 1. A control part 6 controls the clutch 7 to mount the inertial plate 8 on the rotary shaft of the brushless motor 1 under a traveling condition in which rattling noises occurring in the reduction gears 2 should be reduced. As such, inertia of the brushless motor 1 is increased when required according to the traveling condition of the vehicle to suppress disturbance and reduce the rattling noises occurring in the reduction gears 2.
