PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a caster capable of constantly acquiring a reliable braking condition without deteriorating the braking condition even by vibration in travelling and capable of adjusting itself so as to acquire the reliable braking condition even when a wheel is worn down by long-time use of the caster. SOLUTION: This caster is equipped with a braking mechanism 4 above the wheel 3 by mounting the wheel 3 free to rotate on a frame 2 mounted on a lower part of a supporting shaft 1 free to revolve. The braking mechanism 4 is constituted of; an operating shaft 5 provided on the supporting shaft 1 free to vertically move; an engaging gear 6 fastened on a lower end of this operating shaft 5; a braking arm 7 and a brake shoe 8 devised free to revolve by coaxially supporting their respective rear end parts on a rear part of the frame 2 above the wheel 3 by biasing their respective front end parts to be energized upward by a spring S<SB>1</SB>; and a brake adjusting member 9 coaxially supported on front parts of these braking arm 7 and brake shoe 8.
