PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately read BCA information (or NBCA information) with a simple construction. SOLUTION: The DSP (Digital Signal Processor) 32 of a DVD player 100 is provided with a first deciding part 323 deciding whether an optical pickup 1 is positioned in a mirror region, a counter-electromotive force detecting part 324 detecting counter-electromotive force of a thread motor 51, a second deciding part 325 deciding whether the optical pickup 1 reaches the innermost peripheral position on the basis of the detected counter-electromotive force, a movement direction setting part 326 setting a movement direction on an inner peripheral side when it is decided for the optical pickup to be positioned in the mirror region and setting the movement direction on an outer peripheral side when it is decided for the optical pickup to reach the innermost peripheral position, a drive controlling part 327 moving the optical pickup 1 in a set movement direction by a preset prescribed distance, and a reading executing part 328 reading BCA information or NBCA information every time the optical pickup 1 is moved.
