PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel adjustment device and a fuel adjustment method capable of improving a mixing rate of a biomass fuel without significantly increasing equipment costs such as a crushing device and increasing crushing power while keeping the discharge of NOx and unburned combustible content at certain levels. SOLUTION: The mixture of woody biomass fuel and coal is crushed by a mill 6, then supplied to a rotary classifier 11 to be classified, and supplied to a boiler main body 1. A part of the crushed material after classification is taken out by a sampling device 12 to analyze a grain size of the coal in the crushed material by a grain size measurement control system 5, and a rotational frequency of the rotary classifier 11 is controlled on the basis of a result of the analysis. Further in the grain size measurement control system 5, the rotational frequency of the rotary classifier 11 can be correctly controlled to keep the grain size of coal within a prescribed range only by measuring the grain size of coal by a grain size measuring device 13, after the taken-out crushed material is dispersed into heavy fluid and the biomass fuel and coal are separated by specific gravities by a centrifugal separation device 17.
