A method for driving a display panel is provided to perform stable sustain discharge by utilizing address display mixing operation which widens width of sustain pulses for compensation sustain operation. A display panel includes discharge cells driven plural sub-fields. Each of the sub-fields includes a reset period, a mixing operation period, and a common sustain period. The mixing operation period includes address periods(A41,A42) for selecting discharge cells to be generated sustain discharge and sustain discharge periods(IDS,CPS) for generating the sustain discharge in the selected discharge cells. The address periods and the sustain discharge periods are performed sequentially from a first group to an n-th group. A sustain discharge period of the n-th group includes a first interval(CPS1) and a second interval(CPS2) longer than the first interval. The first interval is used to apply a first voltage to Y electrodes. The second interval is used to apply a second voltage lower than the first voltage to Y electrodes from the first group to an (n-1)-th group and a third voltage lower than the second voltage to Y electrodes of the n-th group. |
