<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron beam irradiation apparatus for sterilizing a sheet material, which is capable of effectively sterilizing both sides of the sheet material for manufacturing a paper pack by electron beam radiating means of low energy under an evacuated atmosphere without generating any ozone. <P>SOLUTION: The electron beam radiating means 20 is arranged in a conveying passage 10 for continuously conveying sheet materials 1 so as to be opposite to both sides of the sheet materials 1, and both sides of the sheet materials 1 are sterilized by the electron beams. The conveying passage 10 has a hollow box shape surrounding the sheet materials 1, and an electron beam irradiation division 11 is formed in a part thereof to maintain the predetermined evacuated state by evacuation means 16. Further, in the electron beam irradiation division 11 having the electron beam irradiation means 20 therein, at least one small division 12 is provided respectively in the hollow box-shaped conveying passages 10 on the carry-in side and the carry-out side of the sheet materials adjacent thereto, and the evacuation means 16 is provided for evacuating the small division 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
