<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display or record an image more smoothly when an EVF function is carried out, and an animation is recorded while changing an angle of a view by an electronic zoom. <P>SOLUTION: A method controls an imaging device for imaging a subject and outputting image data, and an imaging apparatus having an electronic-zoom function. In the method, either of a first processing mode and a second processing mode is set (S100 and S200), and the angle of the view is indicated (S10). In the method, when the first processing mode is set, the imaging device is driven and controlled by changing over the reading range and reading method of the image data from the imaging device on the basis of the indicated angle of the view, and the image data are read, processed and changed into the indicated angle of the view (S101).
