<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlling method for an on-board air cleaner for controlling a display part so that it is possible to notify the filter replacing timing. <P>SOLUTION: The operating condition of an ion generator is displayed in a display part continuously when the operational cumulated time of this air cleaner counted by a counter remains below the first cumulation time. When the operational cumulated time is equal to or over the first cumulation time and below the second cumulation time, the displaying condition of the display part is set blinking during the first display time from the engine start, which is followed by changing-over into continuous displaying.
