PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double-layer capacitor excellent in mass productivity with large capacitance. SOLUTION: The electric double-layer capacitor comprises: an electrode pair including carbon materials 8a, 8b with continuous fine pore diameter distributions; and an electrolytic solution containing a plurality of kinds of cations 12, 14 different in ionic diameter and a plurality of anions 16, 18 different in ionic diameter. The carbon materials 8a include: optimum fine pores 12a for sorbing the cations 12; optimum fine pores 14a for sorbing the cations 14. The carbon materials 8b include: optimum fine pores 16a for sorbing the anions 16; and optimum fine pores 18a for storing the anions 18. Both the number of cations to be sorbed to the fine pores of the carbon materials 8a and the number of anions to be sorbed to the fine pores of the carbon materials 8b are increased.
