PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a joint tacking device that facilitates positioning of a TIG torch at a prescribed profiling angle even by an unskilled worker in performing tack welding of a lap joint. SOLUTION: The joint tacking device includes: a body frame 1 formed in a U shape and provided with a pair of oppositely facing vertical walls; a joint tacking device body 3 attached to the inside of one of the vertical walls of the body frame; a rod like stopper 5 in the plate thickness direction (thickness-direction stopper) attached pendant to the joint tacking device body, with the tip end projecting from the lower end of the body frame; a TIG torch 7 which has a tip end electrode set in the joint tacking device body at a prescribed aiming-angled position relative to the lap joint 15 of a thin plate and which is mounted in a manner positioned in the upper part from the tip end of the thickness-direction stopper; and a stopper 9 in the right angled direction of the joint, a stopper which is formed in the lower end of the pair of vertical walls of the body frame and which engages with the difference-in-level part between the upper and lower plate 15b of the lap joint when the tip end of the thickness-direction stopper comes into contact with the upper plate 15a of the lap joint.
