PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma MIG welding method which stabilizes arc and which makes a weld bead to be obtained that has a superior characteristic of low temperature toughness of deposited metal. SOLUTION: In the plasma MIG welding method, a plasma arc is generated between a non-consumable plasma electrode and a workpiece, with the plasma electrode to have a hollow shape, and with an insulated welding wire fed through the hollow shape, generating an MIG arc between the welding wire and the workpiece, and supplying center gas into the plasma electrode. The plasma gas is supplied into a plasma nozzle surrounding the plasma electrode, with a shield gas supplied into a shield nozzle surrounding the plasma nozzle, wherein an inert gas is used as the center gas, the plasma gas and the shield gas. As a result, the MIG arc can be stabilized, enabling an excellent bead to be obtained, and also a weld joint can be obtained that has a superior characteristic of low temperature toughness of deposited metal.
