An upper holder for a press mold is provided to reduce weight of the upper holder and operate the upper holder by relatively small power by forming a recessed mounting groove at a holder body and inserting a weight reduced block in the groove. An upper holder(25) for a press mold comprises a holder body(30), and a weight reduced block(40). The holder body is placed at an upper mold of the press mold to fix parts, one surface of the holder body being formed with a recessed mounting groove(36). The weight reduced block is inserted in the mounting groove, fixed at the holder body, and formed with a recessed groove. Combining holes(47) are formed at the weight reduced block. Combining holes are formed on the bottom of the mounting groove of the holder body to correspond to the combining holes of the weight reduced block.
