<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording medium capable of attaining an excellent printed image, even the one with a parallel bar code, a longitudinal ruled line or the like, and also the printed image being resistant to abrasion, in the application to high-speed printing. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer recording medium is constituted by stacking, on a substrate, at least a release layer mainly constituted of polyethylene wax and an ink layer containing a colorant and wax. The number-average molecular weight of the polyethylene wax is 655-1,000 and the melting viscosity at 149°C is 5-12 cp, while the melting point is 99-113°C. The waxes of the release layer and the ink layer have peaks of heat absorption expressed by differential thermal curves which indicate temperatures on the axis of abscissas and quantities of heat absorption per unit time on the axis of ordinates. As to the temperatures showing the maximum values of the peaks of the quantities of heat absorption, the relation of the polyethylene wax in the release layer>the wax in the ink layer is established, and the quantity [Q] of heat for fusion of the wax in the ink layer determined by the relation is 21<Q<38 [mj/mg]. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
