PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the precision and speed of recognizing a magnification by specifying zoom magnification at a fixed point and to make a recognition device simple in configuration and low in cost. SOLUTION: In a movement region of a zoom lens 2 which moves through zooming operation, a plurality of predetermined position information detecting devices 10 for determination of zoom magnification are provided, and a zoom magnification computing element 20 is provided which receives signals from the position information detecting devices 10 to compute zoom magnification and then displays or (and) outputs it as a signal.
